Food And Drug Administration Approved The Flavr Savr...

Ever since 1994, when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the Flavr Savr tomato and it hit the stores for purchase, genetic engineering has been under constant evaluation and has made consumers apprehensive ever since. People immediately began to question just how safe consuming products that have been genetically modified could possibly be. Today, nearly 22 years later, and this major question has still yet to have a conclusive answer. However, what has changed is that GMO’s are more prominent than ever and so the question remains. Is consuming genetically modified food safe, and what exactly are the short and long-term effects? By evaluating all of the information that has been unveiled over the years, we will better be able to identify and finally come to an educated conclusion to this long debate. GMO’s have long been accustomed to controversy, with a multitude of positive and negative attributes both physically and environmentally, and these attributes ultimately give justification for choosing to support Anti-GMO. GMO’s have a long history. A debate about how safe GMO’s are and how much consideration went into the determination of the short and long-term effects both for us as humans and the environment that we live have been questioned for years.
